Cross Country Coach
XCC is a web based application used develop Glider Cross Country Pilots
XCC expands on the concept of Proving Grounds providing a library of Gliding Tasks from first task to 1000km as well as Resources to develop Cross Country pilots. The tasks can be sorted by distance, difficulty and area flown enabling the pilot and their coach to select an appropriate task. The Tasksheets detail most aspects of the flight, they include Turnpoints, When to Fly, Hazards, Checklists, Frequencies and Tips. The Tasksheets can be consulted at home so the pilot can prepare for his flight in advance, the pilot can download print the task or use a laminated copy available at the Club.
Once the task is completed, the pilot can upload the IGC file to XCC, the task will be scored and the flight added to a leaderboard for each task. XCC provide various types of analysis of the flight, ranging from the basic speed/climb/glide to advance and comparative metric against the other pilots that have uploaded their trace. The analaysis of the trace is an invaluable tool where the Pilots and their Coaches can determine how to improve the Pilot's flying skills and move on to bigger tasks.
The leaderboard provides a realistic way to see the performance improvement, the ranking largely accounts for handicaps based on the glider type and the number of hours the pilot has. XCC is not restricted to new Pilots, it caters for all skill levels
